Developed for drag racing, this engine belly pan addresses a critical safety issue on the 2nd generation Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan where the bottom of the engine is exposed. In the event of a engine failure or fluid leak this belly pan will keep you safe preventing parts from hitting the racing surface and running over your own fluids.
One of the pillars for Colab Garage is to provide the racing community with key safety products for the platforms that we support. When the MADScientist developed the engine belly pan for the R35 Nissan GT-R several years ago, it was a natural progression to expand that offering to a growing number of platforms. The Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan has grown in popularity with drag racing and roll racing over the past few years and we recognized the need for some well executed safety gear! As owners and shops push the limits of the platform, the need for safety equipment to keep the drivers safe in the event of a failure becomes more and more important.
This engine belly pan was developed out of a safety requirement by many organized racing events to ensure the safety of the driver by keeping him from running over their own oil and parts if a catastrophic engine failure occurs during a run. The main tray will retain up to 3 gallons of fluids which should more than capture all of the oil and coolant that is in the engine during operation and then some. This also helps keep the event on schedule by not having to shut down the racing to clean up the resulting mess when not running one of these.
